Duties

This duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Stakeholder Engagement - Foster strong relationships with community leaders, government agencies, non-profits organisation, and other stakeholders to create a collaborative and positive working environment for the company and its stakeholders. Cultivate and maintain trust-based relationships with community members and stakeholders through consistent communication and engagement efforts.
  2. Program Development and Implementation - Develop and implement a Forest Management plan-community, overseeing a comprehensive community development program that aligns with the company's sustainability goals and supports the needs of local communities.
  3. Program Management - Identify and secure funding opportunities for community development projects through grants, partnerships, and other financing mechanisms. Manage the budget and resources for these projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  4. Social Impact Assessment - Regularly conduct assessments and produce reports on the social and economic impacts, achievements, obstacles, and the overall effectiveness of the company’s initiatives on community well-being.
  5. Grievance Management - Promptly and professionally address any issues arising within community and grievance management activities. Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and ethical guidelines, while documenting grievances, procedures, outcomes, and resolutions.
  6. Ad Hoc Responsibilities - Undertake any additional tasks as assigned by supervisory personnel, which may arise in relation to the role’s primary duties.

Requirements

The following attributes would be an advantage:

  1. A degree in Social Science, Project Management, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of work experience in community development in a managerial or supervisory capacity, preferably within a rural or plantation context.
  3. Proven track record of successfully implementing community development programs and managing grievance mechanisms.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of sustainable forestry practices and their societal impacts.
  5. Exceptional project management capabilities, with experience in handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with diverse stakeholder groups.
  7. Proficiency in both English and Malay (verbal and written), as well as local dialects. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  8. A valid driving license and the ability to travel to community sites and other locations as required.

Duties

This duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Harvesting & Logging Management - Plan and supervise Logging operations to ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, regulatory standards, and company safety, quality, and environmental protection standards. Ensure that all harvesting and logging operations are carried out efficiently and effectively, with all usable timber extracted and hauled to the log yard.
  2. Logistic coordination - Coordinate logistics and transportation to ensure the timely and efficient transport of harvested and logged timber.
  3. ⁠Data maintenance - Maintain accurate and timely records of daily harvesting and logging activities, including volumes harvested, areas cleared, and stock levels.
  4. ⁠Safety and Training - Enforce safety protocols, report accidents, and provide training and supervision to harvesting personnel and contractors to ensure that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
  5. ⁠Coordination with regulator - Maintain effective communication with relevant authorities and manage the timely submission of necessary permits and approvals.
  6. Road Infrastructure Management - Oversee the construction, upgrading, and maintenance of access roads.
  7. Security and Inspection - Conduct periodic ground inspections to prevent illegal logging, and report any instances encountered.

  5. Research and Development integration - Stay informed on the latest in silviculture research and technology. Integrate innovative practices and tools into the management plans to enhance forest productivity and sustainability.
  6. Material Coordination – Collaborate with the Nursery team on seedling planning, supply and transportation, ensuring the availability of healthy and viability planting stock.
  7. Management of Contractors – Monitor and supervise the field operations of contractors’ workers.
  8. Data Maintenance - Maintain accurate and timely records of daily silviculture activities.

  1. Plantation Management - Direct and refine operations across the plantation, covering silviculture, harvesting, and other key areas to ensure efficiency, sustainability, and compliance with certification standards.
  2. Support Department Oversight - Manage departments critical to plantation support, including Security, Nursery, Fire Protection, Health and Safety, and Asset and Infrastructure management.
  3. Risk Management and Mitigation - Proactively identify and address risks within plantation operations. Develop and implement risk management strategies and emergency response protocols to safeguard assets, personnel, and the environment, while promoting continuous improvement.
  4. Performance Management - Formulate and oversee the plantation's budget, including forecasting, resource allocation, and cost management. Aim to maximize profitability without compromising resource sustainability, ensuring achievement of production and planting targets.
  5. Regulatory Compliance - Ensure adherence to all relevant local, national, and international legal and regulatory requirements, certification standards, and company policies.
  6. Workforce and Resource Optimization- Lead, educate, and manage a team of forestry professionals and workers, prioritising safety, morale, and productivity. Efficiently manage resources to optimise output.
